A consortium of investors, including a US fund, reportedly submitted an offer at the end of March to acquire the project to build and operate the power plant in the town of Ostrołęka, in north-east Poland.

The consortium has placed an offer to buy 100 percent of the project, but would not rule out the participation of Energa, with a 20 percent – 30 percent stake, if the Polish company’s management board expresses an interest.

The value of the transaction is close to the amount Energa has already invested in the project's preparation, PLN 200m (USD 53m), with an expected overall investment of about USD 2bn.

The consortium also reportedly plans to build another power block, with a capacity of 600 megawatts and could also invest in mines. (jh)
