As part of the deal, the stadium will now officially go by the name of PGE National (PGE Narodowy).

This is another step towards achieving our main marketing objective, namely to reach the level of brand awareness and recognition by which every Pole not only knows the PGE brand, but above all wants to be its customer,” said Marek Woszczyk, chairman of the board of PGE.

The stadium was raised to chime in with Euro 2012, which Poland co-hosted with Ukraine.

It is currently managed by the PL.2012 + company. Chairman of the firm Tomasz Półgrabski has said that “there is no other venue which can generate such positive energy."

The sponsorship contract lasts until 10 October 2010.

PGE is the largest power producer in Poland. It is currently spearheading a bid to build a nuclear power station. (nh)
