Bank Gospodarki Żywnościowej (BGŻ) will merge with BNP Paribas Polska to form Bank BGŻ BNP Paribas, one of Poland’s top ten largest banks, the lenders said in a joint press release.

The approval from the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) removes the last remaining hurdle to the merger.

One of the world’s largest banks, BNP Paribas is the sole shareholder in its two Polish subsidiaries, making Bank BGŻ BNP Paribas one of few large financial institutions in the country without a stockmarket listing. (an)
