Poland’s average disposable income in 2014 rose 3 percent to PLN 1,340 a month, the Central Statistics Office (GUS) said on Monday.
The disposable income is calculated as the total household income less income taxes and social-security and health contributions, divided by the number of individuals in the household.
In addition to giving some rough idea of the standard of living of an average Pole – the mean figure comes in at around EUR 10 per day with most people likely to enjoy significantly lower disposable monthly income – the GUS figure is also used by the municipal authorities to calculate charges for rubbish collection.
