Polish motorists queueing for LPG installations

Companies kitting out vehicles with LPG installations are struggling to keep up with recent demand, reports the daily Metro.

“At the beginning of February we didn’t have much by way of business,” Krzysztof Kwiatkowski from Auto-Gaz in Jarocin told the daily.

However, with a sudden rise in petrol and diesel prices, “now the phone’s ringing off the hook and just this week we’ve had over a dozen clients”.

After prices of petrol and diesel hit a low at the beginning of February – with prices unseen for a number of years in Poland – fuel prices have started to inch back up again.

However, LPG prices are still falling, with a litre of LPG dropping to below PLN 2 for the first time in five years this month.

“It is worth investigating an LPG installation if the price is around half that of other fuels,” fuel analyst Dr Jakub Bogucki from the e-Petrol website told the daily.

An LPG kit affords the driver with a choice of fuel, with Bogucki adding that “we can tank up on LPG or the vehicle’s regular fuel, calculating which one is more profitable depending on the market”. (jb)
