The Here and Now edition replaces city street names with international cities. The cities are chosen by voting, with Poland’s capital entered in the poll for the 2015 edition.

Some 80 cities are to be up for selection in the latest Monopoly edition, with Warsaw up against Berlin, London, Buenos Aires, Vilnius and Hong Kong. A total of 22 cities will be chosen.

One of the last international editions of Monopoly Here and Now, voted on in 2008, included the Polish Baltic port of Gdynia, which earned a spot on the board.

According to information given by Warsaw City Hall, voting on the cities is open from 9 February until 20 February, and can be done on the Monopoly Poland website [editor’s note: website down at time of publishing].

The first edition of Monopoly was released in 1935 during the Great Depression in the USA. Since then, it has sold over 200 million copies. (jb)
