Poland's Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has handed out a PLN 1.5 million fine to Masmal Dairy for using vegetable fats in its butters.
The Office has decided that for a product to sold as “butter”, it needs to contain between 80-90 percent milk fats, and “not a gram of vegetable fats”.
“Since 2012, the [Trade Inspectorate] has issued 46 decisions confirming the misleading fat quantities in butter sold by Masmal Dairy,” UOKiK wrote in a statement. (rg)
