Lumber from the sawmill will be mainly used in IKEA factories in Poland and Slovakia.
The Stalowa Wola investment has cost IKEA 33 million zloty (7.8 million euro), covering two plots of land with a total area of 25 hectares.
The venture is located within the region's special 'Wislosan' Economic Zone.
Just 43 people are employed at the sawmill at present, although numbers are set to rise once the site has completed all test phases.
Poland is a key production location for IKEA, and it is second only to China in terms of the quantity of items manufactured by the Swedish firm.
Meanwhile, Poles are proving increasingly prolific customers, and IKEA recently announced that it aims to increase its turnover in Poland by eight-fold over the next two decades. (nh)
