The average migrant is a middle-aged man, coming from the countryside, with high school education. The most common motivation is higher wages.

Another recently published report, an analysis from recruitment firm Pracuj.pl, shows that the number of foreign job offers for Poles in the first quarter of 2014 has grown by some 4 percent compared to the previous quarter.

The highest number of such offers, 1,175, came from Germany, demonstrating a 39 percent growth compared to the last quarter of 2013.

The number of job offers in the Netherlands was 307 and from United Kingdom 288 in the first three months of this year.

The employment offers from abroad available to Poles came from several sectors, but the most popular ones were construction and real estate (18 percent), heavy industry (13 percent), IT, telecommunications and advances technology (9 percent), transport and logistics (9 percent) and retail (5 percent).

More than half of the foreign job offers (54 percent) was for specialist positions and only 28 percent was for physical workers, Pracuj.pl also said. Some 11 percent were for managers.

The two reports are in line with predictions made by Polish demographers, who expect a second wave of emigration from Poland.

The first wave, after Poland joined the EU, was focused on fairly short stays intended to generate cash. Now the situation has changed and more Poles go abroad to develop their careers and for longer periods. (kw/pg)
