Close to 500 firms from 27 countries are exhibiting their wares at the event, which is being held under the honorary patronage of President Bronislaw Komorowski.

This year's edition sees a marked increase in the number of firms taking part, with about 100 companies making their debut in Kielce.

France takes centre stage in this year's National Exhibition, although there are also special pavilions prepared by companies from the UK and Italy.

Meanwhile, the newly-formed Polish Defence Group is exhibiting for the first time, as is Ukroboronprom, a Ukrainian aviation company.

The 22 International Defence Industry Salon lasts until 4 September. (nh)
