“Poland has the third most dynamic sales growth rate after China and Russia,” commented Katarzyna Balashov of IKEA Retail Poland in an interview with the Newseria agency.

“Our plans for development in Poland are very ambitious,” she enthused.

“Over the next 20 years we want to increase our turnover eight-fold from the current 2 billion zloty to 16 billion zloty [477.5 million euro to 3.8 billion euro],” she specified.

Among the immediate priorities for the firm is a new branch in Bydgoszcz, northern Poland. The store is due to open in the second half of 2015.

A branch in Lublin, south east Poland, is also in the pipeline, which would take IKEA's Polish network to ten stores.

Plans have also been laid to expand existing branches in Warsaw and Wroclaw.

Besides registering a dynamic sales growth, Poland is also a key production location for the Swedish firm. Poland is IKEA's secong biggest furniture producer after China. (nh)
