The first site, Skapiec.pl (which translates as Miser.pl), offers price comparisons of various products, while Opineo.pl gathers consumer reviews of both products and shops.

Onet.pl has purchased 80 percent of the shares in both companies.

“The coming years will be dominated by the dynamic development of services that help users make purchasing decisions on the web,” commented CEO of Onet.pl, Robert Bednarski.

“Both companies perfectly fit into our strategy adopted by a diversification of revenues.”

In March 2014, 2.1 million web-users visited Skapiec.pl, while 550,000 visited Opineo.pl.

Founded in 1996, Onet.pl provides news updates and an on-line encyclopedia, among other services. Most of the shares in the company were purchased in 2012 by Ringier Axel Springer Polska, an offshoot of the Zurich-based media company. (nh)
