In comparison with traditional analogue technology, digital radio offers a much wider range of options, in line with the expectations of the contemporary listener.

Advantages include a clearer signal, even during car travel, easy selection of stations based on their ID as displayed on screen (Polish Radio External Service will be identified by its name), and pre-programming transmissions up to seven days prior to air-time.

There will also be simple and user friendly one-touch operations, auxiliary services such as text and images, slide shows, schedule guides and traffic information for mobile navigation systems.

Not least, the transition creates the opportunity for Polish Radio to expand its portfolio with new channels, thus reaching a wider audience.

The launch of terrestrial digital transmissions in DAB+ by Polish Radio makes it the leader in technological change and a pioneer in digital broadcasting not only in Poland, but also in the entire CEE region.

As always, individual audio reports will continue to be uploaded onto the Radio section of thenews.pl. (nh)
