The speech, at the Potocki Palace in the French capital, was a call for more French investment in Poland.

Komorowski noted that France is already the third largest foreign investor in Poland, after the Netherlands and Germany, currently amounting to around 19 billion euros and resulting in the creation of around 200,000 jobs.

"This is a really great achievement and a great incentive to continue efforts to strengthen economic cooperation between our countries,” President Komorowski said.

Earlier, Bronislaw Komorowski and First Lady Anna were greeted by President Francois Hollande at the Elysee Palace at the beginning of the state visit.

The presidential couple also laid flowers at the grave of Nobel Prize winning Polish-French scientists Maria Sklodowska-Curie and Pierre Curie.

Later, the president and his wife attended a special gala dinner laid on at the Elysee Palace.

On Wednesday, President Komorowski, along with President Hollande, will take part in events marking the 68th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe.

“We [France and Poland] were allies from almost the first day of the war, namely 3 September 1939," Komorowski told reporters.

"So I take this parade involving Polish veterans and contemporary Polish soldiers not only as a tribute to the history of our common struggle, but also as a signal of the need to build military cooperation between Poland and France today and in the future.” (pg)
