The institute's 'Global Wealth Report 2012' forecasts that Poland will boast some 78,000 millionaires by 2017.

A millionaire is classified according to US dollars in the report, and Credit Suisse believes that in spite of the credit crunch, Poland's situation echoes a global trend.

According to Credit Suisse's statistics, the number of millionaires around the globe will leap from 18 million to 46 million in 2017.

Credit Suisse estimates that the United States will endure as the world's wealthiest country in 2017.

Meanwhile, China is set to surpass Japan as the second richest country. Over the next five years, China is expected to increase its number of millionaires to about 2 million citizens, doubling its current level. (nh)
