The forum, which began on Tuesday in Mexico City, was organised under the slogan of “Poland: Gateway to Europe”, and is being chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Beata Stelmach and Adam Szejnfeld, Deputy Chairman of the Polish-Mexican Bilateral Group.

As regards turnover, Mexico is Poland's third largest trading partner in Latin America, and the 43rd largest across the globe.

Adam Szejnfeld told the Polish Press Agency (PAP) that the current economic crisis “should teach us diversify our trade, so that we are not dependent on markets within the European Union.

“Poland recently became active in Russia and Asia – now it's time for Latin America,” he said.

Mexico currently accounts for 13 percent of Poland's trade with Latin America.

Polish exports to Mexico in 2011 reached the figure of 311 million dollars (991.2 million zloty ), while imports were less at 255 million dollars (812.8 million zloty). (nh)
