Czeczot’s work was published in Polityka magazine – one of the most widely-read periodicals before and after the fall of communism in Poland – but was also published in the post-1989 leftwing satirical “Nie” weekly, among many other publications.

Czeczot was born in Krakow, southern Poland, in 1933 and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in the southern city in 1957.

Czeczot was imprisoned by the communists in 1981 during the anti-Solidarity crackdown of that year and later emigrated to the US, where he found work drawing for the New Yorker, New York Times and Wall Street Journal. (pg)
