Instead of performing a full-blown concert, the sonic pioneer was one of several artists participating in the “Future Perfect” installation programme.

Eno’s nocturnal show saw fountains illuminated amid one of his signature ethereal soundscapes.

However, it appears that Eno, ever the perfectionist, would have liked to have fine-tuned his submission somewhat, if time had allowed.

“He told me that he had not taken into account certain factors, for example weather conditions,” said noted journalist and music expert Bartek Chacinski, adding that “the visual projection did not fare well on the first day, because of the wind.”

Eno, who blitzed into the public consciousness as part of glam rock outfit Roxy Music, went on to produce such top league performers as David Bowie and U2. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of ambient music.

Eno remains one of the most sought-after producers in the business, with recent collaborations involving Coldplay and Grace Jones. (nh/jb)
