The two-day event kicks off today, showcasing an eclectic mix of home-grown and international acts.

Kanye West counts amongst America's biggest-selling artists, and the star has already notched up 14 of the music industry's coveted Grammy awards.

The 34-year-old rapper also bears the dubious distinction of being called “a jackass” by U.S. president Barack Obama, after the former protested on stage that his friend Beyonce had failed to win the prize for Best FemaleVideo at 2009's MTV Video Music Awards.

Other hot acts set to perform in Krakow are The Kooks, Interpol, White Lies, Editors and You Me At Six.

Local outfits Pablopavel, Gooral and Vallium are among those letting rip on the Polish stage.

The festival, now in its sixth edition, has previously welcomed such diverse acts as Muse, Jay-Z, Lily Allen, The Prodigy, James and The Killers.

Echoing the last two editions, the event is being hosted on the grounds of Krakow's Aviation Museum. (nh)
