The ceremony was held in Warsaw during the conference entitled “Poland, the Great Project,” which focuses on Poland’s development prospects and future challenges .

The medal’s name refers to the 2005 election motto of President Lech Kaczyński, who was killed in the plane crash in western Russia in 2010. The distinction is given to outstanding personalities for their contribution to the promotion of Polish culture and history in the world.

Fabio Biondi is among the most prominent figures in the musical world. In recent years, he performed with his Europa Galante ensemble three times at the ‘Chopin and his Europe’ Festival in Warsaw. Last year, they gave the world premiere of the Italian version of ‘Halka’ by the father of Polish national opera Stanisław Moniuszko. A live recording of the performance, released this year by the Warsaw-based National Chopin Institute, has won high critical acclaim, including the ‘record of the month’ in Japan and the ‘record of the week’ in Holland. Fabio Biondi’s Europa Galante has also performed works by Chopin, Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński and Adam Jarzębski. (mk)
