Poles leery of four-day workweek: survey

Only 38 percent of Poles would want to work four days a week rather than five, according to a report entitled The Workforce View in Europe 2019.

Spanish workers are the most enamoured by the idea, with nearly two-thirds (63 percent) saying it would be their preferred way of working, compared to just 38 percent of those in Poland, the report said.
The survey canvassed the views of over 10,000 workers across eight countries in Europe.
Economist Artur Bartoszewicz was cited by public broadcaster Polish Radio as saying the findings highlighted that Poland was a country trying to catch up with the West.
He said: “Poles are aware that work simply makes you wealthier, and so working is the thing to do.”
The average gross Polish monthly wage in April was PLN 5,186 (EUR 1,205, USD 1,344), the country’s Central Statistical Office reported last month.
