Over 800 exhibitors from 27 countries are expected to attend. The literary fest at the Polish capital's National Stadium will be the largest event of its kind in Europe, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.

Attractions will include book launches, screenings of documentary and feature films, workshops and animated film shows for children.

Among the guests will be Svetlana Alexievich, a Belarusian writer who won the 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature. She has won acclaim for her portrayal of the harshness of life in the former Soviet Union.

The book fair runs until Sunday.
