The literary fest at the Polish capital's National Stadium will be the largest event of its kind in Europe, according to public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency.

Among the guests will be Svetlana Alexievich, a Belarusian writer who won the 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature. She has won acclaim for her portrayal of the harshness of life in the former Soviet Union.

The Warsaw Book Fair opens on May 23 and runs until May 26. Romania will be the special guest country at this year’s event.

Among the attractions will be book launches, screenings of documentary and feature films, workshops and animated film shows for children.
