The US broadcaster has said on its website that Central Europe is home to "a host of secluded towns that are perfect for those keen to immerse themselves in travel romance and adventure."
The website listed Poland’s Sopot, Krynica-Zdrój, Kazimierz Dolny and Sandomierz among such picturesque sites.
The cnn.com website said Sopot, in northern Poland, is one of the most charming beautiful seaside towns on the country's Baltic coast, “with an all-year-round festive atmosphere” and serving as “a haven for those seeking romance by the sea.”
The CNN website noted that the Sopot pier is the longest such wooden structure in Europe and a great place for a day trip.
Meanwhile, Krynica-Zdrój in the south of the country is one of the most scenic of Poland's small towns and an “ideal romantic break location,” according to the CNN website.
“Known for its healing springs, Krynica, with the magnificent Beskid Mountains as a backdrop, is perfect for travelers looking for an atmospheric escape,” the website said.
Another picturesque town, Kazimierz Dolny in the east-central part of the country, on the bank of the Vistula River, “may well be Poland's best kept secret,” CNN said.
“Those who stay in the accommodation available on the hills above the city are rewarded with long river walks, as well as incredible Polish dishes and superb old town views,” according to the website.
Last but not least, Sandomierz, one of Poland's oldest towns, offers a stunning mosaic of historic houses and preserved medieval gates as well as well an ancient castle that adds to its allure, according to CNN.
“This small town on the banks of Vistula River, the longest and largest river in Poland, has all the ingredients for an idyllic romantic getaway,” the website said.
