Her novel Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead, translated into English by Antonia Lloyd-Jones, was among six books nominated for the 2019 award on Tuesday.

Tokarczuk’s environmental thriller is “by no means a conventional crime story” and “offers thought-provoking ideas,” according to the Man Booker Prize website.

The novel was first published in Poland in 2009. It was adapted for the silver screen in 2017 by Polish filmmakers Agnieszka Holland and Kasia Adamik under the title Spoor.

Tokarczuk won last year’s award for her novel Flights.

The winner of the 2019 Man Booker International Prize will be announced at a ceremony in London on May 21.
