No Oscars for ‘Cold War’

Polish-born British director Paweł Pawlikowski’s drama "Cold War" has failed to win any Oscars at the Academy Awards gala in Los Angeles.

The feature was nominated for best foreign-language film, best director and best cinematography.

The film was beaten by Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma, which scooped awards in all three categories on Sunday.

Peter Farrelly’s Green Book won an Oscar for best picture.

Cold War is a love story between two people of different backgrounds and temperaments, set against the backdrop of the Cold War in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

The movie has been showered with prizes in recent months, including the European Film Awards in five categories.

Pawlikowski’s Ida won an Oscar for best foreign-language film in 2015.
