Poland’s Tomek Kozłowski has been selected for his photograph of a young jockey during Mongolia's traditional Naadam sporting festival.

Meanwhile, Olga Urbanek reached the finals for an image of her friend entitled “Anna.”

Marlena Kurowska-Jankowiak’s image presents her little daughter during her first puddle-splashing romp in the family garden.

Patryk Kulata was praised by the jury for a photo featuring the Gdańsk shipyard as a digital collage, while Piotr Cyganik was singled out for his shot of a special unit of Polish mounted police.

All five Polish photographers are in the running for awards in the Open category. Awards will also be given out in the Professional, Student and Youth categories. A shortlist of 10 finalists in the Open category will be announced on February 26.

More than 326,000 images by photographers from 195 countries have entered the competition.

A Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition will open at London’s Somerset House on April 18.
