The event at Warsaw’s National Opera aims to promote classical music to a broad audience and will include symphonic masterpieces, chamber music and classical numbers rearranged as jazz pieces.

Themed Towards a New World, this year’s edition of the festival will focus on the works of artists who were shaped by their experiences of migration.

Music by Polish artists Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Witold Lutosławski, Karol Szymanowski, Stanisław Moniuszko, Mieczysław Karłowicz and Wojciech Kilar is set to be emphasised at the event, which this year coincides with Poland’s celebrations of 100 years of regained independence.

The festival runs from Friday to Sunday. (vb/pk)
