Some of the big names in contemporary jazz will appear alongside local talent during this year’s festival, which kicks off at Warsaw’s Stodoła club on Thursday evening, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

A number of British jazz musicians who combine jazz with genres such as hip-hop, trip-hop and electronic music – including a trio led by multi-instrumentalist Django Bates, the drum-and-sax duo of Binker and Moses, and a sextet fronted by pianist Vijay Iyer – are billed to perform, according to Mariusz Adamiak, who originated and organises the festival.

The Warsaw Summer Jazz Days festival runs until Sunday and includes gigs by the likes of the Dayna Stephens Group, GoGo Penguin, and the Hudson band featuring John Scofield, Jack DeJohnette, John Medeski and Scott Colley.
