Polish drivers are getting older, according to a new study.

Eight million Polish motorists are over 50 and the number of drivers in this age group is expected to increase, according to Polish Radio’s IAR news agency.
A study by Poland’s Motor Transport Institute found that older drivers most often complain of problems with their sight and concentration.
The ministry of infrastructure is working on regulations that will oblige older drivers to periodically undergo medical examinations, according to IAR.
But Justyna Wacowska from the Motor Transport Institute said that such medical tests are not enough on their own. Special training is needed to help older people drive safely.
Statistics, meanwhile, show that young people aged 18-24 cause the largest number of accidents in Poland. Older drivers cause fewer crashes.
The number of people who died in road accidents in Poland fell 6 percent last year compared to 2016, the European Commission said last week. But Poland is still fourth from bottom in the European Union in terms of road safety.
