The amount raised during the annual fundraiser's grand finale on Sunday was almost PLN 20 million higher than a year earlier, leading organisers to believe that the overall figure this year could surpass last year’s total of over PLN 100 million.

Some 120,000 volunteers helped raise funds across Poland and in many locations abroad on Sunday.

Donations were expected to continue coming in, with the charity scheduled to announce the final figure in March.

This year’s proceeds are to go to neonatal care units, which the Great Christmas Aid Orchestra plans to provide with resuscitation equipment, modern incubators, non-invasive respiratory support and infusion pumps.
