The festival launched on Friday with a screening at the historic Silver Theatre in Washington. It will feature 44 films from 27 European Union states – all but Malta.
Spoor is a 2017 Polish, German, Czech, Swedish and Slovak co-production which was nominated for a foreign-language Oscar.
Based on Olga Tokarczuk's best-selling novel Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead, the film has been described by the Guardian as "Miss Marple meets Angela Carter in the trackless Polish forest" and is a mixture of mystery, thriller and dark comedy. (vb/pk)
