Only one in three Poles eat food that is good for them, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.

Meanwhile, over nine in ten know that what they eat has a significant impact on their health, according to IAR.

More than half of adults in Poland and one in eight children are obese or overweight, the agency added.

It pointed out that fat children have a greatly increased risk of high blood pressure, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases in adulthood.

According to the World Health Organization, there are about 80 diet-related diseases, including obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis and cancer.

In Poland, more than 12 million people suffer from diet-related illnesses, according to Anna Cybulska, a gastroenterologist cited by IAR.
