The event will see stars from Poland and abroad performing together, including Jenny Scheinman with Adam Bałdych, David Murray with Irek Wojtczak, and Bill Laswell with Poland’s Kapela Ze Wsi Warszawa band.

"There will be a great many mixed line-ups... world greats will be playing together with Polish musicians," said festival director Mariusz Adamiak.

The roots of the jazz jamboree date back to September 1958, when a festival called Jazz '58 was held in Warsaw.

Subsequent festivals were called the Jazz Jamboree.

The event quickly became one of the largest of its kind in Europe, hosting the world's biggest jazz stars.

The Jamboree Jazz festival runs until Sunday.
