One in three Ukrainians want to leave their homeland for good: report

Warfare, economic problems and political uncertainties in Ukraine are the key reasons for wanting to migrate to the West, Poland's Rzeczpospolita daily has reported.

Financial difficulties affect even well-educated citizens. For example, four years ago Ukrainians working in finance could earn USD 3,000 a month. “Nowadays it’s good news if you get USD 1,000,” economist Oleksandr Ohrimyenko told the Polish daily. “This is why not only the lowest paid workers but also highly-skilled specialists are leaving.”

A survey run by Kyiv-based pollster Rating found that 35 percent of Ukrainians would like to leave their homeland for good. Each year, the number of respondents citing such inclinations grows, Rzeczpospolita reported. Most Ukrainians want to migrate to Poland or Germany.
