Polish director wins EUR 20,000 at Berlinale

Polish director Kuba Czekaj has received a Script Development Award and EUR 20,000 (PLN 86,000) at the 2017 Berlinale film festival, to help him finish a new screenplay.

Czekaj is currently working on a film entitled “Sorry, Polsko” (Sorry, Poland), which is also partly financed by the Polish Film Institute. Shooting has been planned for 2018.
Czekaj has written a number of award-winning pictures, including the short “Twist and Blood”. His 2016 picture “The Erlprince” will be screened at the Berlinale's "Generation" section.
The main Berlinale prizes will be awarded on Saturday. (vb/pk)
