At the opening gala of the festival, film producer Robert Lantos and Oscar-winning actress Jessica Lange were given special honours. Also, “Afterimage”, the final feature of the late Polish film director Andrzej Wajda, was screened as part of the ceremony.
Some 300 movies will be screened at the festival, competing in 10 categories.
"We have prepared a rich, inspiring programme, which I hope will offer a moment of relief from dirty political campaigns and overwhelming mediocrity," said festival director Marek Żydowicz.
The event also offers a number of meetings and workshops, including a seminar on digital cinematography with three-times Oscar winner Vittorio Storaro.
The Camerimage International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography wraps up on 19 November. It is held under the honorary patronage of Polish President Andrzej Duda. (ał/pk)
