A delegation of the committee met with the organizers of European Capital of Culture events in Wrocław on 18-20 July to assess the program so far.

The head of the delegation, Helga Trüpel, said at a press conference on Wednesday that Wrocław’s successful tenure as a European Capital of Culture is a result of successfully combining European with national and regional elements.

She said the committee considers both the large T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival, kicking off in Wrocław on Thursday, as well as smaller, social projects in the poorer districts of the city as examples of Wrocław's successful European Capital of Culture program.

Wrocław has been designated European Capital of Culture for the whole of 2016 along with the Spanish town of San Sebastian. (mol/pk)
