Skolimowski kicks off Kinoteka Polish Film Festival in UK

The 14th Kinoteka Polish Film Festival kicked off in London on Thursday evening with a screening of Jerzy Skolomowski's latest movie '11 Minutes.'

A Q&A with the director was led by British critic and aficionado of Central European film Michael Brooke.
The movie, which won the Special Youth Jury Prize at last year's Venice Film Festival and the Special Jury Prize at the Gdynia Film Festival, is a thriller that juggles intersecting lives in contemporary Warsaw.
Besides Skolimowski, the festival is hosting retropectives of two other Polish directors: Agnieszka Holland and Andrzej Żuławski (the latter died in February).
Meanwhile, the event gives Britons and Poles in Britain the chance to catch up on the latest releases in Poland.
Movies in the programme this year include Marcin Wrona's genre-bending 'Demon', Małgorzata Szumowska's 'Body' (winner of the Silver Bear in Berlin and the Golden Lions at Gdynia) and Jacek Bromski's 'Anatomy of Evil.'
Festival-goers will also have the opportunity to savour a recently discovered gem from the silent era, and a restored version of Oscar-nominated swashbuckler 'The Deluge'.
The 14th Kinoteka Polish Film Festival runs until 29 April. (nh/pk)
