The festival focuses on cinematography, a branch of movie-making in which Poland has achieved worldwide renown, partly due to the success of graduates from the country's leading film school in Łódż.
The Golden Frog went to 'Carol's' cinematographer Ed Lachman. The film, which stars Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, explores the relationship between a young photographer and a married woman in New York.
Meanwhile, in the parallel Polish competition, the top prize went to cinematographer Jerzy Zieliński for 'Summer Solstice'.
The award for best debut cinematographer went to Joshua James Richards for 'Songs my Brothers Taught me.' (nh)
