Pole joins Wikimedia board

Professor Dariusz Jemielniak has become the first Pole selected to sit on the board of the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees.

The prestigious seven-person team had to date not included anyone from outside the USA and Western Europe.
The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees oversees budgetary management and the long-term strategic development of Wikipedia.
The foundation's management positions are selected by over 5,500 Wikipedia users.
Jemielniak's brief will include increasing links with the world of academia and cutting the company’s red tape.
Jemieleniak is currently head of the International Management Studies at the Koźmiński University in Warsaw.
He specialises in high technology management and is also the creator of an internet dictionary ling.pl and English-language learning site angielski.edu.pl.
Jemieleniak has been connected with Wikimedia since 2007. (jh)
