The 24-year-old uploaded a film a year ago where he was seen driving while talking on a mobile phone – an activity which is illegal in Poland.

The fine amounted to PLN 1,500 (EUR 360, USD 410).

In the video, he is stopped by police officers who ask for his licence. When Wardęga asks the officers what he has done wrong, he swaps the phone for a baked confection made to resemble an iPhone and proceeds to take a bite. Since it is not illegal to eat while driving, he was let go.

However, he has now been fined for wasting police time, an offence in Poland and other countries including the UK.

“On the basis of the witness testimony, it turns out that you made the police stop you for the sole reason of posting a video on the internet, and so that it would be funny,” the judge ruled in the case, according to Wardęga's own Facebook page.

This is not the first time Wardęga has had a brush with the law. He was arrested during the filming of at least one other prank video, where he is seen being chased by police around the Polish capital, Warsaw.

Wardęga's video “Mutant Giant Spider Dog” was the most popular film on YouTube worldwide in 2014. At the time of writing, it had been watched over 132 million times. (rg)
