The concert is due to be held in a club within the city's publicly funded cultural centre.

Bishop Ignacy Dec, who heads the Świdnica diocese, has stated that the group's output is ''based on agression towards Christians,'' as cited by Radio ZET.

The clergyman has also stressed that late Polish pontiff Pope John Paul II is a patron of Świdnica.

Bishop Dec reflected that ''a hidden evil which causes spiritual desolation'' lurks in this form of music.

The group, which was founded in 1983, is one of Poland's most seasoned metal bands, and it has garnered an international followimg.

Posters promoting the concert feature a skeleton dressed in a bishop's apparel.

Tracks on the band's 2014 album Tibi et Igni include ''Go to Hell'', ''Where Angels Weep'' and ''Worms of Eden.''

Deputy Mayor of Świdnica Szymon Chojnowski has commented that the city does want to act as a censor.

Likewise, he has noted that the cultural centre is not organising the concert, but has rather hired out part of the premises for the gig. (nh)
