Nominations in for Poland's 'Eagle' film academy awards

An unlikely black comedy about Poland's first successful heart transplant and a Cold War thriller dominate the nominations for the Polish Film Academy's Eagle Awards.

Łukasz Palkowski's 'Gods' and Władysław Pasikowski's Jack Strong garnered 12 and 11 nominations respectively, including for Best Film and Best Director.
Jan Komasa's epic about the 1944 Warsaw Rising, Warsaw 44, has been nominated in 8 categories, likewise including Best Film and Best Director.
In the Discovery of the Year category, the nominees are cinematographer Kacper Fertacz for thriller 'Hardcore Disco', actress Zofia Wichłacz for 'Warsaw 44' and costume designer Ewa Gronowska for 'Gods'.
Meanwhile, three films are in the running for the Best European Film award: Andrey Zvyagintsev's 'Leviathan' (Russia), Danish director Lars von Trier's 'Nymphomanic: Volunme 1' and Paolo Sorrentino's 'The Great Beauty' (Italy).
The winners will be announced on 2 March. (nh)
