A vile murder in the sleepy medieval town of Sandomierz revives ghosts from Poland's Jewish past, and Prosecutor Teodor Szacki, played by Wieckiewicz, is called in to investigate.

A Grain of Truth will be directed by Borys Lankosz, marking the filmmakers's second feature after the award-winning Reverse (2009).

“I would like this film to be not just entertainment, but also a contribution to a sober debate on certain topics that loom over our society today,” Lankosz told the Gazeta Wyborcza daily.

Lankosz worked on the script together with Miloszewski, whose two novels about Prosecutor Szacki have won fans in both Poland and abroad.

The film will be the second adaptation of a Prosecutor Szacki tale, following director Jacek Bromski's critically acclaimed Entanglement (2011).

Robert Wieckiewicz recently played Solidarity leader Lech Walesa in Andrzej Wajda's biopic Walesa: Man of Hope (2013). He also took the lead role in Agnieszka Holland's World War II drama In Darkness (2011).

Shooting on A Grain of Truth is due to begin this Spring, with Lankosz hoping for an autumn release. (nh)
