Director Grzegorz Jarzyna's Nosferatu is playing at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's New Wave Festival.
Jarzyna's production, which draws together actors from the TR Warszawa theatre and Poland's National Theatre, was scored by noted New York avant-garde composer John Zorn.
“My dream is to make the play a hypnotic performance for the viewer,” Jarzyna told the Przekroj weekly, following the production's Polish premiere.
“What counts in the play is not the action, but the contemplation,” he added.
Nosferatu will run at the BAM Harvey Theatre until 2 November. (nh)
