The R&B star's Warsaw gig will be part of her forthcoming world tour The Mrs Carter Show, the title of which takes a light-hearted poke at her recent marriage to Mr Shawn Carter, aka rap star Jay-Z.

The former Destiny's Child singer is currently working on her fifth solo album, material from which is set to aired during the tour.

“Beyonce is undoubtedly one of the greatest contemporary stars of R&B, carrying on the tradition of great vocalists like Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston,” enthused Piotr Metz, spokesman for the Orange Warsaw Festival, in a press release on Monday.

Tickets for the two-day music festival, which runs from 25-26 May at the National Stadium, went on sale today.

The festival was launched in 2008 and previous performers have included The Prodigy, Nelly Furtado, Jamiroquai and Razorlight.

News of acts due to perform at this year's edition alongside Beyonce will be revealed over the coming weeks. (nh)
