Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Chancellor Angela Merkel are to chair a joint sitting of the Polish and German governments in Warsaw today to mark the twentieth anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good Neighbourly Relations.

The highlight of today’s sitting is the signing of a declaration summing up the last 20 years of cooperation between the two countries, as well as a list of joint undertakings for the coming years, the PM’s plenipotentiary for international dialogue, Wladyslaw Bartoszewski has said
“The list of common goals numbers some 100 items,” head of the PM’s plenipotentiary’s office for international dialogue, Krzysztof Miszczak has informed.
Hi-speed rail connections, gas pipelines, as well as Polish studies departments being opened at German universities are just some of the goals.
Apart from the joint declaration, the session will also address issues concerning the Greek debt crisis, nuclear energy and Poland’s upcoming presidency of the EU Council. (jb)
