Czaputowicz and his Swedish counterpart Margot Wallstroem were on Friday in Ukraine as envoys from two countries which founded the Eastern Partnership, an initiative launched in 2009 to forge closer political and economic ties between the EU and its eastern neighbours.
“Ukraine is the foundation of the Eastern Partnership. I am convinced that the European Union should continue supporting Ukraine in the implementation of an association agreement,” Czaputowicz said in an open lecture on the partnership at a university in Kiev.
Czaputowicz and Wallstroem were later on Friday scheduled to meet the recently elected president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, who was sworn in on May 20.
