The initiative, launched by Germany and called the Berlin Process, promotes regional cooperation among Western Balkan countries.

The Berlin Process brings together candidates for EU membership (Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania) and potential candidates (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo), as well as a number of EU member states.

The rotating presidency of the Berlin Process is held by Poland this year.

The aim of the two-day ministerial meeting in Warsaw is to prepare for the 6th Western Balkans Summit in Poland in July this year, according to the Polish foreign ministry.
